Vaulting

Grace, Coordination, and Artistic Expression
What is Vaulting?
Vaulting blends gymnastics and dance on horseback, showcasing balance, rhythm, and harmony between vaulter and horse. This unique discipline captivates with its creative routines and disciplined teamwork, often performed to music.
The horse typically canters in a circle on a lunge line while vaulters demonstrate strength, flexibility, and control through choreographed routines, either solo or in teams.
Training and Skills
Vaulters train extensively on barrels before moving to a horse, developing coordination, timing, and trust. Skills range from basic mounts to complex lifts, jumps, and balances. Key elements include rhythm, symmetry, and a close bond with the horse and lunger.
Competition Format
Vaulting competitions are judged on technique, artistic expression, and horse movement. Events may include compulsory exercises and freestyle routines, with divisions for individuals, pairs, and teams. Safety, presentation, and harmony are all core judging components.
